“The Honey Badger” has found himself in trouble just after leaving drug rehab.
Tyrann Mathieu, the former LSU Tigers All-American safety, has been arrested with three former LSU players on drug charges. Mathieu and LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson were charged with simple possession of marijuana, per the Baton Rouge police department. It is not the type of incident the safety needed if he as looking to be reinstated at the school.
On top of Mathieu and Jefferson, Former Tigers safety Karnell Hatcher was also charged on simple possession. Former defensive back Derrick Bryant was arrested for possession with intent to distribute.
Mathieu answered the door at his apartment today when police “immediately smelled a strong odor of marijuana,” the police report stated.
After searching the apartment, the police located marijuana in possession of the former athletes.
Prior to the season, Mathieu was kicked off of the team for multiple failed drug tests. He entered drug rehab in hopes of returning to the LSU football program but the drug rehab apparently did no good. Mathieu will now likely never wear a Tigers uniform again and his chances in the NFL have taken a serious hit.
