Manu Ginobili To Miss Spurs Season Opener

San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili has been plagued by injuries over the past two seasons and the 2012-13 NBA season is starting off no different for the Argentinian. Ginobili will miss the Spurs season opener against the New Orleans Hornets with a lingering back issue.

“He’s not going to travel to New Orleans and we’re going to assess him again on Thursday,” Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said of Ginobilis injury. “He still feels his back. He tried to get on the court today and he couldn’t do it.”

Ginobili is thirty-five-years-old and not getting any younger. The Spurs need to be worried about their aging guard.

The two-time all-star has already hinted that he is considering retirement following this season so the lingering back issues could be the beginning of the end for his time in the NBA.
