As The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil is set to air their second season, which will air on TV Globo in March of 2013, there is a report from Brazilian media outlet OGlobo that has some major news about the upcoming series.
Per the report, UFC heavyweights and Brazilian natives Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira — more popularly known as “Big Nog” — and Fabricio Werdum are set to become the coaches for the second season of TUF Brazil.
Previous rumors included light-heavyweight contenders Lyoto Machida and Shogun Rua as the potential coaches for TUF Brazil but the heavyweights got the call.
It would have been the third meeting between Machida and Shogun — the two have split the series at one fight a piece.
The second installment of TUF Brazil will feature 170-pound fighters competing for a six figure contract in the UFC’s welterweight division. At the end of the season, Big Nog and Werdum will meet in the octagon. It will be the second time that Nogueira and Werdum have met in mixed martial arts. The two previously fought back in 2006 at Pride: Critical Countdown Absolute. Big Nog scored the unanimous decision victory.
It is also the second time for each of the fighters to appear on The Ultimate Fighter as coaches.
Nogueira was a coach on TUF season 8 against fellow UFC heavyweight Frank Mir. For Werdum, he appeared on season 1 of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil as an assistant coach on Team Wanderlei Silva.
