Quarterback has been one area the Chiefs have particularly struggled this year, and those struggles aren’t going anywhere as the see-saw between Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn continues. After getting the starting job back, Matt Cassel is back on the bench and Kanas City is back to giving Brady Quinn a shot under center.
Quinn lost the job due to a concussion he suffered and although he was cleared to return to action this week, the Chiefs elected to go with Matt Cassel. But after a rough start to Sunday’s game against the Bengals that saw Cassel throw just 93 yards through most of the game.
The Chiefs haven’t been winning much this season, and the controversy at quarterback is fueling rage that fans have and the animosity they feel towards GM Scott Pioli and the decision made in recent years. Kansas City seemingly went all-in with Cassel, giving him a new contract a few years ago but they’ve done little to upgrade the offense for him.
Todd Haley was fired last year when the Chiefs struggled, but even with a new coach and a new quarterback the struggles are the same in Kansas City. Things need to change, and that change needs to extend beyond trading back and forth between starting Matt Cassel and starting Brady Quinn.
