Michael Vick is inactive today as the Eagles take on the Redskins, but those Eagles fans clamoring for Nick Foles to take over are at a loss of words, as the rookie playing like anything but a savior for the Eagles, throwing two interceptions already including one that lead to a score.
Foles first interception was returned by DeAngelo Hall down to the Eagles 9-yard line, which was followed up by two plays for the Redskins and a six-yard pass from Robert Griffin III to Darrel Young for a touchdown. Foles then did it again when Brandon Meriweather picked him off when he was pressured to throw a pass he probably shouldn’t have.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the ball, fellow rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III is having a great day with two giant touchdown passes so far today, and the blowout is just beginning in Washington.
As for Eagles fans, this is a case where the backup isn’t any better than the starter you’re running out of town. It was said by experts everywhere that no quarterback can survive behind this awful Eagles offensive line and that’s proving true as a second quarterback is struggling with a lack of protection in the pocket.
Foles second interception came because he had to get rid of the ball due to intense pressure. Granted, it was a rookie mistake, but when you combine that with poor pass protection then you get the Eagles current situation at quarterback.
