A week ago, things were gloomy in Alabama after a loss to Texas A&M. They had fallen from the No. 1 spot in the BCS, they had gotten beat up by an SEC opponent cutting their teeth and their national championship hopes seemed all but dashed, diced and minced.
Then a miracle came from the heavens from the college football gods, and while the light shone on Notre Dame the brightest, Alabama got some of relection beams and saw their season resurrected. Oh, and the betting gods are apparently back on their side, as while Notre Dame is the No. 1 team in the BCS and Alabama still has ample time to fumble their season away again, the Crimson Tide are once again the odds favorite to win their second title in as many years.
If the Crimson Tide roll to the title game against Notre Dame, they’re going to be early 10-point favorites and as it stands now, the Tide are 5/8 favorites.
Again, the No. 1 team in the country is just 5/2 favorites to win it all. After the Irish, the Georgia Bulldogs are the next team up with 13/2 odds to win the national championship, which is up from the 20/1 odds they were last week. Speaking of 20/1 odds, both Kansas State and Oregon, who were 6/1 favorites last week, have dropped to 20/1 odds this week.
While Alabama may be overwhelming favorites to win the title again this year, they still have two huge games they need to play to get their and as last Saturday showed us anything can happen late in the season.
