The college football season is coming to a close and post season awards finalists are starting to separate themselves from the pack. Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel has taken the nation by storm and has become the favorite to win the prestigious Heisman Trophy award.
Early in the season, West Virginia Mountaineers signal-caller Geno Smith appeared to be running away with the award before Kansas State Wildcats quarterback Collin Klein made a late season run. It was until a few weeks ago that Klein had the award wrapped up and now Manziel is the favorite in Vegas to take home the award.
According to Bovada.com, the man known as Johnny Football is now a 2/5 favorite to win the Heisman. Klein’s odds for the award sit at 5/2.
Manziel is on track to become the first freshman to win the Heisman and that could scare away voters.
Another name to watch out for is Notre Dame Fighting Irish linebacker Manti Te’o who has 4/1 odds in the Heisman race. If there was a year for a defensive player to break the streak of offensive players taking home the Heisman, it would be this year with Te’o.
