The Notre Dame Irish are pulling off a dream season, one we’ve not seen the likes of since the late eighties/early nineties. But Brian Kelly and company have gotten this team into the National Championship and the Irish are one game away from once again being the kings of college football.
The first step to that was winning last night against USC, now it’s up to the polls and so far so good for Notre Dame. The AP Poll was released today and the Irish are the unanimous No. 1 team in the country. Should the Irish can beat either Georgia or Alabama in the tile game, they’d become the first team since BYU in 1984 to finish the season as the AP No. 1 after beginning the same season unranked.

With a win over Florida State the Gators have moved into the Top 5 in the AP Poll and as was the case last week the Alabama Crimson Tide roll in at No. 2 with the Georgia Bulldogs coming in at No. 3.
Despite being BCS bowl ineligible this year, the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes are No. 4 in the AP Poll.
But what matters here is that the Irish are No. 1 in the AP Poll, are No. 1 in the USA Today Coaches poll and are without a doubt the No. 1 team in the BCS. The ride isn’t over yet and there’s a lot of waiting to do from now and January 7th when Notre Dame would play their next game but for now, the Irish can get ready for one more game — the most important game they’ll play all year long.
