Not that anyone particularly cares, but the Eagles will be without DeSean Jackson for the remainder of the season, as yet another thing has gone awry during this abysmal season for the Eagles. Jackson suffered the injury in last night’s loss to the Panthers and an MRI revealed that the wide receiver will need at least six weeks to heal.
Seeing as there are five games left and the Eagles will not be forcing a sixth, Jackson’s season has come to a premature end.
To make matters worse for the oft out-spoken (both physically and verbally) receiver, Jackson promised a Super Bowl when we signed his five year contract in Philly last March. Not only will Jackson not see that promise through to the end this season, the Eagles are not even coming close to grazing a shot at the title this year.
Head coach Andy Reid insists that despite the injuries to not only Jackson but quarterback Michael Vick and running back LeSean McCoy, being banged up isn’t and excuse for being bad at football.
“Injuries are not an excuse for our record. The next guy plays. There are no excuses,” Reid said. “Hopefully you have the character on the team where guys will fight to the end. You saw that last night. We’re just not getting it done.”
The Eagles seem to be taking Jackson’s lead when it comes to being out for the season.
