Report: Andy Reid Could Coach Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys and Eagles play each other on Sunday Night Football, but we’ve been given a very interesting twist in the matchup thanks to Mark Eckel of the Times of Trenton who says that a very reliable source has informed him that when it comes to Andy Reid’s coaching future we need to start thinking Dallas over everyone else.

The hunch is that the source is Reid’s agent Bob LaMonte.

“I know a lot of people think Andy is going to San Diego next year, and I can see that happening,” the source told Eckel.  “But I keep hearing Dallas.  I think he can end up with the Cowboys.  As a matter of fact, I think he will end up with the Cowboys, if Jason is fired.”

Now the next thing we all have to do is take the quote with a massive fistful of salt, as it’s likely a ploy by LaMonte to try and keep his client employed where he is right now.

As ProFootballTalk points out, LaMonte is likely cryptically saying if you fire Andy Reid, he’s not going to go away so how about we don’t fire him and we can all stay friends. If LaMonte thinks that’s enough for Reid to not be fired, he’s as crazy as every other agent throwing their weight around out there. The writing is on the wall for Reid’s time in Philly, and the ploy by his agent is only further proof that Reid is on his way out.

It just reeks of desperation, which is a massive downer, but who know where Reid will end up. However, Reid coaching Dallas is an interesting prospect but it’s likely too stale of an idea for Jerry Jones to try. The league is moving to younger players and younger coaches and the Cowboys will likely conform as such.
