While the family of 22-year-old Kasandra Perkins continues to grieve days after 25-year-old Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher took her life before turning the gun on himself at the team’s facility, they have decided to make their first public statements regarding the awful tragedy that struck their family.
It would be completely understandable if the Perkins family had ill feelings towards Belcher for what he had done, but not only did the family thank everyone for their support, they asked that everyone support the Belcher family through this hard time as well.
“On behalf of the Perkins Family, we appreciate the outpouring of love and concern for our Kasandra ‘Kasi’ Perkins,” the family said. “Our hearts are truly broken for Kasi was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, mother, cousin and friend. At this time we request the media respect our privacy during this difficult time as we grieve for our loved one. Please keep us in your hearts and prayers as well as the Belcher family for two lives were lost.
Again we thank you for your support, our wish is for Kasi to be remembered for the love she shared with us all. Kasi will be truly missed!”
Thoughts continue to be with the Perkins and Belcher families as they face this tough time. No one can imagine what they could possibly be going through, but they have our best wishes and sympathy for the tragedy.
