The South Carolina Gamecocks have signed head coach Steve Spurrier to a two-year contract extension that will keep him in charge of the team through 2017. Spurrier led the Gamecocks to back-to-back double-digit win seasons for the first time in the school’s history.
Spurrier was happy with the extension and how far the program has come under his direction, but the team has yet to reach one of their major goals.
“We have achieved a lot of goals, but we have not yet won the SEC championship,” Spurrier said. “Hopefully, we can do that within the next couple of years.”
Spurrier’s base salary will remain the same, despite the new extension.
