After missing the last few weeks with a rib and shoulder injury, Ben Roethlisberger will be returning to action this week when the Steelers take on the San Diego Chargers. There was some hope that Roethliberger would start last week after he showed improvements in practice, but his grand re-entry to the Steelers lineup will happen this week.
Roethlisberger has missed the last three weeks with a dislocated rib and sprained shoulder.
Veteran backup Charlie Batch has filled in for Roethlisberger the last few weeks, and came up with an emotional win last week against the Baltimore Ravens. While the win was a nice throwback for Batch, it seems it will likely be his send off, as the win put the Steelers back into the AFC Playoff hunt meaning Pittsburgh will lean on Roethlisberger from here on out.
Tight end Heath Miller said that he in practice this week he hasn’t noticed any setbacks for drop offs in Big Ben’s game. Roethlisberger took a reported 90 percent of the first team snaps this week and appears ready to try and lead what the Steelers hope is a push towards yet another Super Bowl.
It will be a one week at a time deal, but just having Roethlisberger back amid all the injuries this season is a sight for sore eyes in Pittsburgh.
