Miami Heat superstar LeBron James appears to be increasingly annoyed with criticisms that come from the mouth of NBA Hall of Famer and analyst Charles Barkley.
Last week, Sir Charles made some comments about James’ Heat teammate, Dwyane Wade, on TNT that struck a nerve with King James. What was the comment that got under James’ skin?
“He’s not the same guy,” Barkley said. “I got a better look at him in person. He doesn’t explode anymore and he’s shooting a lot of fade-away jumpers.”
The comments came following the Heat’s embarrassing loss to the New York Knicks, but the criticism of Wade stuck with James, who finally lashed out at Barkley following the Heat’s win over the Atlanta Hawks earlier in the week.
“It means Charles Barkley needs to shut up,” James said about Barkley’s comments on Wade’s performance, per NBA.com. “I mean, the man [Wade] is shooting 80 percent from the floor the last couple of games. That’s like, crazy, right? That’s why he is who he is. Unbelievable.”
The criticism Barkley sent in the direction of Wade was unfair and off base. Wade was having one of his most efficient games of the season against the Knicks, so for to call him out for losing a step following the game was something that Sir Charles did not need to do.
One positive to come out of this is LeBron’s response to Barkley. It goes to show that James is continuously growing, maturing and blossoming into the leader we all hoped he would become.
