As the NFL comes together to remember the victims of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, one player is going above and beyond to honor one of the fallen child victims.
New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz will be honoring Jack Pinto, a six-year-old boy who was murdered during the Newtown tragedy.
Cruz reached out to the Pinto family after learning their son was a big fan of him. The family told Cruz that Jack was such a huge fan that they are considering burying their son in a Victor Cruz jersey. Cruz was touched by the story and will now carry the memory of Jack with him on the field.
Cruz will wear the name of Jack Pinto on his cleats and gloves when the Giants take on the Falcons today. Cruz’s cleats will read “Jack Pinto, my hero” and “RIP Jack Pinto.” His gloves read “Jack Pinto this one is 4 u.”
It is very touching to see the athletes around the league coming together to show their support for the families of this unspeakable tragedy.
