Brian Scalabrine is known by NBA fans as “The White Mamba.” He is often the butt of jokes from fans as Scalabrine has spent his career sitting at the end of the benches for teams like the New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics and most recently the Chicago Bulls. While fans do like to joke about Scalabrine, he is throwing down a challenge for anyone that lives in Boston.
The White Mamba is accepting challenges from any Boston native that thinks they can beat him in a one-on-one game of basketball.
Scalabrine explained the details of his challenge on ESPN’s “Waddle and Silvy Show” in Chicago:
In Boston right now, we have this challenge going out. I do a radio show out there, and there are people on the street that really believe they can beat me. So we’re doing tryouts for the top 10 people in Boston to play me one-on-one.
And we’re playing to 11. And we’re gonna film it, everything. The reality of people and what they think NBA players are like. I’m the last guy on the bench and I will kick your butt if you’re out on the streets. It’s just the way it is.
Scalabrine is 100% correct. Not only will he take down any regular Joe in basketball, but Scalabrine and his 6-foot-8 frame will embarrass any challengers.
He may be a bench player in the NBA, but he was still in the NBA. I just can’t wait to see the videos of his one-one-one games — especially if they are close to as brilliant as this highlight reel:
