Michigan Wolverines To Wear Special Uniforms For Outback Bowl (Photos)

The Michigan Wolverines will be wearing some alternate uniforms for the team’s Outback Bowl appearance against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Michigan is known for one of the most traditional looks in all of sports, but they have found a way to mix things up while keeping the traditional feel.

It all starts off with the helmet. Everyone can glimpse at the Michigan helmet and know it belongs to the Wolverines. While Michigan wanted to give the helmet a new twist, they wanted to do so without altering the traditional helmet.

How did they do it? They went with this matte finish on their domes.

On top of the matte finish helmet, Michigan has altered their jerseys for the bowl game. The uniforms are very similar to what the Wolverines wore in their season opener against the Alabama Crimson Tide, but they feature more navy accenting on the shoulders instead of the maize.

I personally love the new touches to Michigan’s uniforms. During bowl season, a lot of schools bust out their wackiest uniform combinations to wow potential recruits and gain some extra publicity while they are on the national stage. Michigan managed to stay true to their roots while adding some modern touches that make their uniforms stand out.

We give this alternate uniform an A+. Well done, Michigan. Now it’s time to perform as well on the field as you will look.
