The New York Jets are not good this year, there’s really no other way to put it. But nothing personifies the Jets desperation for either some sort of talent or some sort of non-negative attention what they have reportedly done. After watching a video of him kicking a football 60 yards, the Jets have given Norwegian kicker Harvard Rugland a try out with the team.

To be fair, the video is pretty insane and we’re talking about a team that traded away draft picks so they could have Tim Tebow sit on their bench. So we can’t be surprised that high ranking members of the Jets huddled around a computer and proceeded to geek out over a Norweigian dude kicking a football.

Rugland said the tryout went good, and he managed to stay calm despite being nervous.

“It went well,” Rugland told Norwegian broadcaster NRK. “They tested me on field goals and kickoffs. Obviously you feel a little more pressure here, but I stayed pretty calm.”

He must not watch football if he was nervous trying out for the Jets. Kittens with eye patches and bullwhips could make the team at this point and lead it in most statistical categories.

The video that has now gone viral, features Rugland kicking a ball from up to 60 yards as well as him kicking a football in various trick kicks. For instance, Rugland is seen kicking a ball behind his back and into a garbage can more than once, and also managed to perfectly kick a ball off a pier and right to a man standing on a boat at least 40 yards away.

But even if Rugland doesn’t have a future in the NFL — which he very well could given how the league has kicker fever at the moment– at least he gave us a YouTube video.

And in this country, beside beer and religion, do we really need anything else?
