Arian Foster is perhaps the best running back in the NFL besides Adrian Peterson right now, and he owes a lot of that to his front-line. So as a thank you git that double as a nice Christmas present, Foster has given his blockers all segway’s to show his appreciation for their not letting him get destroyed on Sundays.
Foster’s segway has gotten attention this season because…well because it’ s segway and for some reason they’re still a thing. Segway’s are in interesting middle ground when it comes to something that totally lame while at the same time being so very cool. While rich executives and CIA employees roll around on segways, so does the mall cop at the local mall.
So that gives you a picture of who uses segways.
But at the end of the day, it’s the thought that counts and a segway beats a $25 gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings, so it’s not like Foster got skimpy with the gifts. Not everyone thinks it’s a good idea that segways now belong to every member of the Texans blocking crew. While Foster is appreciative of the blocks, the other guy they block for isn’t sold that overweight guys rolling around on glorified motorized scooters is a good idea.
“It’s nice to see that, that he appreciates what the offensive linemen do,” Matt Schaub said of the gifts. “I just want them to be careful, there are too many people walking around, too many obstacles. I just want to make sure they’re safe.”
While Schaub has a great point, it’s Christmas and Grinch’s aren’t welcome this time of year. Lineman Duane Brown acknowledges Schaub’s concerns, but brushed them off like he’s a man who’s just gotten a segway for Christmas.
“We’re athletes man,” Brown said. “We got body control.”
