Houston Texans Fall From Top Seed Into Wild Card Round After Horrendous End to Season

When the season hit it’s halfway point, it looked like the best team in the NFL was residing in Houston. But after a horrendous end to the season, the Texans have fallen from the No. 1 seed in the AFC all the way back to the first round and a rematch with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Houston started their season 11-1 but finished their season losing three of their last four games and seriously harshing their own buzz when it comes to playoff positioning.

All the Texans needed to do was win two of their last four games to finish with a record good enough for a first round bye, but they couldn’t even do that. Houston lost back-to-back games to close out the season and they happened to be against playoff teams in the Colts and Vikings. Not to mention, the Texans got spanked by the Patriots, who were one of two teams to usurp them in the first round.

The Texans clinched a playoff berth, clinched the division but they limped into the post season. Now they have to go right back to work next week against the Bengals, a team they bounced in the Wild Card round last season. If Houston wins, they’re going to get a matchup against the New England Patriots who, as we mentioned, spanked them on national television once before this season.

It’s one that completely blind-sided us, but this meltdown by the Houston Texans is one of the more spectacular team failures we’ve seen in recent history.
