LSU Tigers safety Eric Reid has become the latest member of the Tigers defense to declare for the 2013 NFL Draft.
“I’ve been very fortunate and blessed to have been able to play football at LSU,” Reid said. “It was always my dream to go to LSU and play football.
“I want to thank Coach Miles and all of the people that played a role to get me to this point in my life. This was a very difficult decision because I always wanted to be a Tiger and I love LSU. But, after careful consideration and talking with my family, I feel like this is the right time to make this decision. I will always be a LSU Tiger.”
Reid was voted a first-team All-American in 2012. He was third on the team in tackles with 81.
On top of his impressive skills on the field, Reid excelled in the classroom. He had the highest GPA on the LSU football team, according to notes the team released before their bowl game.
The 6-foot-2, 212-pound Reid is one of the top safeties in the 2013 NFL Draft class and he is believed to be a possible first-round pick in April.
