In a move that comes as a surprise to none, it is being reported that Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly will be returning to the Fighting Irish sidelines rather than making the jump to the NFL coaching ranks. The news came via Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports:
BREAKING Brian Kelly will be staying at Notre Dame, a source just told CBS.

“After much reflection and conversation with those closest to me, I have decided to remain at Notre Dame,” Kelly said. “This decision was motivated purely by my love for Notre Dame and the entire Fighting Irish community.”
Kelly’s flirtation with the NFL was expected to result in him returning to the team he led to the No. 1 spot in the nation with a contract extension and salary raise.
There is no word on whether or not Kelly has received the raise or extension, but it is expected that there will be some changes in the head coach’s contract. This is big news for Notre Dame, who was in danger of losing a big time recruiting class if Kelly was leaving the program.
Now, Kelly can pick up where he left of next season and attempt to make another run at the National Championship.
