Texas A&M Aggies’ Kevin Sumlin Gets Five-Year Extension

Jan 4, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Texas A

Texas A&M athletic director Eric Hyman announced early Saturday afternoon that Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin has agreed terms on a contract extension and pay raise. The new deal will be voted on by the Board of Regents at an upcoming meeting on February 1.

Sumlin’s new deal will also feature a compensation package for his staff.

Under Sumlin, the Aggies had their first top-5 finish since 1956. It was also only the fourth time in Texas A&M history that the team posted an eleven win season.

With Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel entering his sophomore year, the Aggies are looking to keep up the momentum that they gained under Sumlin.
