Former Saturday Night Live cast member Amy Poehler is taking her talents to Super Bowl XLVII.
Just days after he successful gig as co-host of the Golden Globes, Poehler will turn her attention to a different audience as she will star in a Super Bowl add for struggling electronics retailer, Best Buy.
Best Buy executive Scott Durchslag said the company hopes Poehler is the right person to help the company push its new message angle of making often complicated electronics more accessible to the average consumer.
“Because of the complexity of technology today, folks have lots of questions,” said Durchslag, in comments courtesy of USA Today. “Amy is this comedic everyperson who can make things simple. And Best Buy is trying to accomplish the same thing — making technology simple.”
Super Bowl Sunday is also the championship of advertising. Spots during the game go at a high premium and so landing a big star like Poehler could help Best Buy’s message stand out from the crowd.
