The college football season might be over, but that only means football fans everywhere are looking forward to what next season has in store. One of the things most college football fans look forward to every year is the release of the annual NCAA Football game. Thus, the voting process of choosing who will be on the cover has narrowed the field down to our Elite Eight.
Last year Robert Griffin III and Baylor graced the cover and this year the list has been trimmed down to eight finalists. Right now that list includes:
- Texas A&M
- Ohio State
- Notre Dame
- Florida State
Earlier this month Penn State was leading the voting, but has fallen off now that their season is over and they national hype surrounding their inspiring season has died down. NCAA Football typically includes an athlete from the winning school on the cover, and the list of representatives will be released in the coming weeks by EA.
Athlete-specific voting will open on February 4th and run through February 18th.
The only lock when it comes to who will be nominated as to represent their school on the cover should that school win is Johnny Manziel for Texas A&M. A.J. McCarron will likely get the nod for Alabama while Manti Te’o’s inclusion would be quite the hot-button issue should Notre Dame win the vote. As for the other schools, Denard Robinson is a favorite to represent Michigan while Aaron Murray is an obvious choice for Georgia.
The next round of voting opens today on NCAA Football’s Facebook page and will eventually whittle the eight schools down to a Final Four.
