The USC Trojans announced that they moved back their Pro Day, which was originally scheduled for March 12th. According to NFL Draft expert Tony Pauline, the move was made to give quarterback Matt Barkley time to be sure he is prepared to throw for the workout. Barkley will also not be throwing at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis
“It seems to be the trend not to (throw at the combine), and I don’t feel that I have to,” Barkley said. “We’ll see when that time gets closer. It will be more of a game-day decision… I don’t feel I have to necessarily prove anything.”
Barkley is still recovering from a right shoulder sprain and will not take part in any of the workouts.
There is no official date for USC’s rescheduled Pro Day, but March 27th is a rumored date making the rounds. That should give Barkley plenty of time to fully recover and show off his arm for NFL scouts.
Barkley is a first-round prospect who can solidify his standing with a solid performance at the school’s Pro Day.
The USC quarterback has responded on Twitter and, while he did nothing to deny the reports that he will not throw, he says that no official decision has been made.
