Alabama Crimson Tide four-star running back recruit Tyren Jones is set to go under the knife on Monday to repair a broken jaw that was suffered during a locker room altercation. Jones will have surgery on his jaw that was broken in two places. The Walton running back will be fine after a few weeks of recovery.
Per the Marietta Daily:
According to a story first reported by Score Atlanta, Jones, a four-star recruit committed to Alabama, was injured during a locker-room fight Friday at Walton. The story said witnesses told school administrators that Jones did not throw any punches during the altercation.
Over the last two seasons, Jones has been one of the state’s best running backs, rushing for 4,047 yards and 49 touchdowns.
Jones has been committed to the Crimson Tide since February of last year.
He received offers from a handful of SEC schools — Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee and Vanderbilt — along with a few teams in the ACC — Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Virginia and North Carolina. Oklahoma State also made an offer for his services.
It will be interesting to see how Jones officially announces his decision on National Signing Day with his broken jaw.
