St. Louis Blues right winger Vladimir Tarasenko has been the NHL Rookie of the Month for January. Tarasenko earned the honors after leading all first-year players in points. He tallied five goals and four assists during the month.
Tarasenko beat out Tampa Bay Lightning center Cory Conacher, Edmonton Oilers center Nail Yakupov, Oilers defenseman Justin Schultz and Montreal Canadiens center Alex Galchenyuk for the honors. Tarasenko burst onto the scene with two goals in his first game and never looked back.
Here is Tarasenko’s statistical breakdown for January, via the NHL:
|Jan. 19||DETROIT||2||0||2||6-0 win|
|Jan. 21||at Nashville||1||2||3||4-3 win (shootout)|
|Jan. 22||at Chicago||0||0||0||3-2 loss|
