With the number one defensive end recruit off the board, Carl Lawson, the nation’s second-ranked defensive end has made his decision on National Signing Day.
Lawson was expected to sign with the Auburn Tigers and he confirmed that belief early Wednesday morning.
The five-star recruit fills a major void on the Auburn defense.
Lawson originally committed to Auburn in March of last year and has never wavered from his decision. The Tennessee Vols and Clemson Tigers made late pushes, but Lawson stuck to his guns. Even the firing of former head coach Gene Chizik couldn’t get Lawson to switch his commitment.
The Alpharetta, Georgia native was joined by his high school teammate Peyton Barber on his visit over the weekend and Barber decided to flip from his commitment with Ole Miss to join the Tigers 2013 recruiting class.
Auburn is picking up some serious ground early on National Signing Day.
