The Penn State Nittany Lions will secure three-star cornerback Neiko Robinson, as Rivals.com’s Ryan Snyder has tweeted that Robinson has signed and faxed his Letter of Intent to Penn State per his assistant coach at Northview High in Century, Florida (Ty Wise).
Robinson is one of the better recruits in the state of Florida, and there was a chance of him not keeping his commitment to Penn State. Committed to the school since early June, he received an offer from a rival Big Ten school in Minnesota in late September and officially visited the Gophers a month later. He never scheduled an official visit to any school other than Minnesota or Penn State, and Robinson’s official trip to PSU was last month.
The top 100 safety recruit in 2013 also received a Big Ten offer from Purdue and interest from major programs like Florida, Florida State, and a national power just north of Florida in Alabama.
Penn State is getting one of the best recruits in the state of Florida, and Neiko Robinson isn’t getting enough love from some recruiting services. I feel like 247Sports rates him the best by ranking him as the 53rd best safety, but Robinson received so many high school football accolades from Florida newspapers that he seems a tad overlooked.
All that matters, however, is that he’s going to be heading to his school of choice in Penn State, and it will be interesting to see how well he performs with the Nittany Lions. Robinson is one of three PSU commits at the cornerback position and is their lone commit overall from the talented state of Florida. PSU is currently ranked by 247Sports and the 247Composite as the 26th best recruiting class in the nation, and Bill O’Brien’s transition to the college ranks as a recruiter has been incredible. Just incredible.
