One of the more underrated prospects in the Midwest region, three-star safety Tyvel Jemison has signed his Letter of Intent to the Purdue Boilermakers, per his recruiting profile on 247Sports. The Fort Wayne standout will stay in the state, and it was easy to see this signing coming.
Purdue offered Jemison on the first day of August after he visited the school twice earlier, and he immediately named them the leaders in his recruitment. In December, Jemison made the call to commit to Purdue and added that he was making the commitment public after being committed to Purdue in his mind. That commitment came a few weeks after his unofficial visit to Purdue in November, and he took his official visit there last month.
Jemison did not officially visit any other schools, and the only other programs he visited in the summer were Ball State and Indiana. In fact, Purdue was one of only two schools to offer Jemison, as his other offer came from Toledo.
I really love watching Jemison play in coverage, because he has great ball skills and good athleticism to go with that. He can be a solid coverage safety at the collegiate level, and Purdue is keeping a solid one in their class. He is one of the top 15 in-state recruits, and Jemison is also one of the best 70 or so safety prospects in the nation as well with excellent range and solid play-making ability. Jemison has a nose for the ball, and now his place on Purdue as a member of the 2013 class is official.
