Indiana was followed by the Duke Blue Devils, who received twenty first place votes, while seventeen votes were cast in the surging Miami Hurricanes direction for the top spot. The No. 3 ranking is the highest ranking in Miami school history.

Gonzaga was the only other program to receive first-place votes and came in at the No. 5 spot. The Michigan Wolverines were voted fourth.
