The days of “Call Me Maybe” and “Gangnam Style” are long gone, but no we are subject to suffering through various versions of the nation’s latest dance craze, the “Harlem Shake.”
For those who are unfamiliar with the “Harlem Shake,” — first of all, you are lucky — the dance starts with one person generally in a mask dancing around like a fool while the rest of the people in the background are going about their business and ignoring the masked dancer. Once the base drops in the increasingly irritating song, all of the people join in the dance and act a fool — mostly in costume.
The dance craze has been making the rounds on the internet and even made some morning television shows, but now it has finally worked it’s way into the sports world.
None other than the Georgia Bulldogs of the BCS dominating Southeastern Conference have decided to give the “Harlem Shake” their best effort. I guess not only does the SEC want to dominate the college football world, but the dance world as well. I do have to give the Bulldogs props for their enthusiasm and effort.
Here is Georgia’s football team doing the “Harlem Shake:”
Let’s hope we won’t have to see many of these dances again.
