The NBA All-Star Game is tonight which means we will finally get to see the real stars of today’s NBA duke it out in what will no doubt be an entertaining match. The All-Star Game is an easy thing to skip and discount as one of the most overhyped and meaningless exhibition games in all of professional sports. But that’s how every single All-Star Game is: it’s pretentious, it’s full of itself and we watch every minute of it.
One day we will hopefully look back on these games the way we look back at baseball All-Star Games from the 50s and 60s. It was truly a spectacle to see Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial, Ted Williams, Willie Mays and countless others suit up and play together in the same game. While the NBA All-Star Game is far from being that special the hop is that one day we can fondly look back on it like it was.
