Undefeated boxer and super featherweight contender Mickey Bey Jr. is about to be in some hot water after the Nevada State Athletic Commission announced he tested positive for elevated testosterone levels after his impressive third-round knockout over Robert Rodriguez on February 2.
“Mickey Bey tested positive for an elevated T/E ratio (30:1). A complaint for disciplinary action has been filed against Mr. Bey,” Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer said.
The NSAC uses a 6:1 testosterone to epitestosterone ratio as their cutoff. It is a steroid friendly number compared to the usual 4:1 ratio that is used. An average male has a T/E ratio of 1:1.
This just goes to show carelessness on Bey’s part. He had to have been taking the stuff right in the locker room to get a ratio that high. If you are going to dope, make sure you do it right and don’t get caught with a ratio that is out of this world.
Bey was the only fighter on the Feb. 2 fight card to test positive for a banned substance.
