It has been highly speculated that the Alabama Crimson Tide would name former Florida International Panthers head coach Mario Cristobal as their offensive line coach and the move has finally been made official.
Alabama announced the news today and head coach Nick Saban acknowledged the news in a statement.
“We are very pleased to announce the addition of Mario Cristobal to our staff,” Saban said in the statement. “He has an outstanding reputation as both a coach and a recruiter.
“He will be a great fit in our organization and I think our players will respond to his positive attitude and energy. This is a very important hire in terms of working with our offensive line and we feel fortunate that we were able to hire a coach of Mario’s caliber. We want to welcome Mario and his family to the University of Alabama and we are excited to have them here.”
Cristobal was set to become the Miami Hurricanes associate head coach and tight ends coach, but that stint did not last long.
The former FIU coach will now take over a very talented offensive line and have a chance to be part of one of college football’s budding dynasties.
