Players have begun to arrive in Indianapolis for the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine, with workouts scheduled to begin this weekend. Unfortunately for fans that will be watching and NFL personnel members that are looking to evaluate the top talent in the upcoming draft class, one of the top wide receivers, Cal’s Keenan Allen, will not be participating in workouts.
Allen is still recovering from a torn posterior crucial ligament (PCL) and will not be able to show his skills at the combine.
The Golden Bears wide receiver’s agent, J.T. Johnson, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Allen is still only seventy percent healthy, so the best decision will be to wait until April to run his 40-yard dash.
Allen aggravated his knee injury during workouts leading up to the combine and that is the reason for his decision to sit out the combine.
He will, however, run routes at Cal’s Pro Day on March 14.
Allen is viewed as the second-ranked wide receiver prospect behind Tennessee Volunteers receiver Cordarrelle Patterson.
Hopefully Allen will be able to fully recover from the injury before the draft and show scouts that he is the kind of player many believe him to be.
