NFL Combine 2013: Medical Tests Show Star Lotulelei Has Heart Defect

Utah Utes defensive tackle Star Lotulelei is viewed as one of the top prospects in the 2013 NFL Draft class. Unfortunately for Lotulelei, he will not be able to impress scouts at the NFL Scouting Combine after medicals revealed a troubling condition

It was discovered during the medical exams that Lotulelei has a heart defect.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Lotulelei’s left ventricle is pumping at 44 percent efficiency. The normal range is 55 to 70 percent. Lotulelei’s condition was revealed during  an echocardiogram that is conducted on all combine participants.

Lotulelei immediately left the combine and returned home to Utah for more medical tests.

We wish Lotulelei the best and hope that the condition will not prevent him from reaching his ultimate goal of playing on a NFL field and living up to his name, Star.
