Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin took a big hit from Erik Gudbranson of the Florida Panthers on Friday and the Pens star is still dealing with the symptoms. For those that missed the hit that initially injured Malkin, here is a look:
The team had initially avoided talks of Malkin’s symptoms being concussion related, but they have now confirmed Malkin is concussed and he will not be traveling with the team for their three game road trip.
#Pens coach Bylsma: Malkin suffered short-term memory loss. Diagnosed with concussion. No other symptoms. Doing fine. Memory returning

More Bylsma: Malkin will not be joining team on upcoming 3-game road trip.

If Malkin is only absent for the team’s three game road trip, he would be scheduled to return on March 4 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Of course, there is a chance that Malkin could miss more than the three games on the road trip.
Pittsburgh currently stands at the top of the Eastern Conference standings and they will have to continue winning without one of their top stars.
