It didn’t take long for UFC  featherweight champion Jose Aldo to change his tune. The Brazilian had previously said that he had no interest in putting his 145-pound title on the line against contender Anthony Pettis, but UFC president Dana White announced today that the fight is a go and it will take place in August of this year.

Aldo and Pettis are two of the sports most exciting and dynamic strikers, so there are sure to be fireworks whenever the two meet in the octagon. The news already has mixed martial arts fans excited for the bout and many believing that the fight has potential to be a contender for Fight of the Year.

Pettis will be coming down from lightweight, the division that appears to be Aldo’s future home, to challenge for the title.

In his last title defense, Aldo scored a unanimous decision victory over former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. In fact, it has been since November of 2005 since Aldo has tasted defeat.

For Pettis, he is riding a three-fight win streak with him most recent victory being a first-round knockout of Donald Cerrone at UFC on FOX6.

Get excited, folks, this one is going to be good.
