Defensive backs were the final group to take the Lucas Oil Stadium turf for on-field drills at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine and, as you would expect, we were hit with some of the biggest numbers from the combine.
LSU Tigers safety Eric Reid, who many believe to be a top three safety in the draft, recorded the top time of the group, with a total of seven defensive backs recording a vertical of 40 inches or more.
While former LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu and North Carolina State cornerback David Amerson entered the day with questions about their speed and athleticism, they continued to put up solid performances and be among the big winners in Indianapolis.
Here are the top defensive back vertical jumps from the on-field combine workouts:
|Xavier Rhodes||Florida State||6-2||210||40.5|
|B.W. Webb||William & Mary||5-10||184||40.5|
|Robert Alford||Southeastern Louisiana||5-10||188||40.0|
|Earl Wolff||N.C. State||5-11||209||39.0|
|John Cyprien||Florida International||6-0||217||38.5|
