Waterproof Smartphone: Samsung Unveils Galaxy Xcover 2

When Samsung electronics announced they would be unveiling the Galaxy S4 on March 14, there was a lot of buzz and excitement building — and for good reason. Now, Samsung has introduced a new phone in Barcelona, Spain that is built for the every day conditions of life and will not fold under the pressure of your typical smartphone. Which device did they unveil?

Samsung introduced us to the Galaxy Xcover 2, which is basically a Samsung S3 mini, but it is a lot tougher and durable.

The new rugged smartphone is dust-proof and waterproof up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. That is good news for those of us who have a tendency to drop our phones in the sink or bathtub. Heck, if it gets a little dirty you can even give it a good wash.

The Galaxy Xcover 2′s headphone and charging jacks are protected by rubber stops which can plug the openings to ensure no water gets inside your phone, which runs on a 1,700mAh battery. It also features a 5-megapixel camera, with a designated camera button on the side of the phone. The phone’s exterior features a raised rubber grip that will protect it from sliding out of your hands.

It may be a bit bulkier than the cute smartphones that are currently on the market, but if you are looking for a phone that can survive all of the conditions this could be the device for you.

Is the waterproof smartphone something you would be interested in? If so, Samsung seems to be doing it right. Let us know what you think of the device by sounding off in the comments section.
