Pittsburgh Penguins star center Evgeni Malkin has been out of action since suffering a concussion during the team’s 3-1 win over the Florida Panthers last Friday. Malkin took a big hit against the boards from Panthers defender Erik Gudbranson.
Malkin had not skated since suffering the injury, but he finally returned to the ice on Sunday during an optional practice.
Even though it was a light practice, Malkin was not wearing anything to suggest he should avoid contact.
Malkin not wearing anything to suggest no contact, but this optional #Penguins practice probably won’t have much contact.

While Malkin is finally back on the ice for practice, there is no timetable for the star players return.
The Penguins will host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday before heading out on the road for consecutive games against the Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs.
