NFL Free Agency Rumors: Pittsburgh Steelers To Re-Sign William Gay

The Arizona Cardinals released cornerback William Gay on Friday and there was immediately speculation that Gay would be visiting his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and potentially re-sign with the team.

The 28-year-old spent the first five seasons of his career with the Steelers and after a series of tweets on Sunday night it appears that the veteran cornerback is heading back to the Steel City to continue his playing career where it started. Here is what Gay sent out on Twitter:

Last season, Gay registered 57 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, and three forced fumbles.

It is expected that Gay’s contract will be relatively inexpensive and the team will get a veteran corner that is familiar with Dick LeBeau’s scheme to help provide depth to their defensive backfield. What do you Steelers fans think of the team’s decision to re-sign Gay?
