The NFL is always trying to discover the hidden gems like Antonio Gates, Jimmy Graham and others who have little to no college football experience but the talent to make it at the next level. On Tuesday, the Seattle Seahawks made a move in hopes of finding that next star.
Seattle announced the signing of Darren Fells — brother of New England Patriots tight end Daniel Fells. The two sides agreed to a three-year deal.
The interest story behind Fells is that he has no college football experience.
Fells was a played college basketball at Cal-Irvine and pro basketball in Argentina, but now he will have a shot at becoming an NFL player.
Seattle has always gone out and find players that they believe in no matter what the popular opinion is and it appears that they like what they see in Fells. As a pro basketball player, he obviously has the talent to be successful and it is a low-risk, high-reward move for the Seahawks.
It will be interesting to see how this one works out for them.
