Blake Griffin still gets prodded about his Slam Dunk contest finisher a few years back where he jumped a car and even the blind could see that the whole contest had been staged. However, Griffin bounced back from Testicle-gate to deliver one of the most amazing dunks we’ve seen this season and one that easily beats his slam dunk finisher.
Late in the Los Angeles Clippers 117-101 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, Clippers guard Jamal Crawford fed Griffin a slam dunk style alley-oop that saw Crawford pass the ball between his legs to a rising Griffin who took everything home from there.
The dunk capped off Griffin’s third career triple-double, as the forward tallied 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in addition to his ridiculous alley-oop dunk. It’s not often that his teammates can keep up with his theatrics on the court, but Crawford did a stupendous job of feeding Griffin the ball in one of the most creative ways we’ve seen.
The dunk will once again ignite the debate over whether or not superstars should compete in the slam dunk contest, whether they’ve won it before or not. If anything, Griffin needs to compete again so we can all wash ourselves clean of that whole car jumping affair. Wednesday night’s dunk doesn’t mean Griffin will compete every again but it’ll more than do for now.
