While Tim Tebow continues to make controversial appearances during the offseason, the New York Jets are staying active with football related issues and continuing to shop their punt protector.
Unfortunately for the Jets, there won’t be a market for a player that has failed to show any characteristics that could make him a successful quarterback. Ultimately, the Jets will turn to release Tebow once all of their options have been covered.
“I don’t see anyone trading for Tebow,” said a NFL personnel director, per ESPN New York. “If the Jets get compensation, that’s impressive.”
One of the potential landing spots for Tebow in free agency could be the San Francisco 49ers, per the report. Tebow would provide the 49ers a mobile back up to Colin Kaepernick in their read-option offense.
Of course, the Niners would actually have to have interest in return.
It looks like Tebow will struggle to find a home in 2013 and we can’t say that the news comes as any surprise.
