Dallas Cowboys free agent running back Felix Jones has been plagued with injuries throughout his career, but that could make him an affordable option for teams in free agency that are looking for a speedy back that can hit the home run. According to an initial evaluation of the market, it looks like at least one franchise could be interested.
The team that has a connection to the former first-round pick is the New York Jets.
Current Jets quarterbacks coach David Lee was the offensive coordinator at Arkansas when Jones was part of the Razorbacks dynamic running back duo along with Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden. Jones would obviously be familiar with Lee and Lee could give the Jets coaching staff some pointers on how to maximize Jones’ full potential.
Jones is only 26-years-old, so he still has a lot to give a NFL franchise and the injuries keeping him off the field have preserved some of his shelf life.
