The Miami Dolphins have locked up another free agent. Backup quarterback Matt Moore was set to hit the open market, but he has reached a deal to return to the team and continue his duties as backup for starter Ryan Tannehill.

Terms of the deal have not yet been announced.
It is a great move for the Dolphins, but a move that hurts the quarterback needy teams.
Moore would have been one of the best available quarterbacks in free agency and likely would have generated some interest.
By re-signing Moore, the Dolphins keep one of the better backups in the league and keep insurance for the still unproven Tannehill. In the NFL, you need to have faith in your backup in case there is an injury or things go wrong, so the Dolphins wanted to lock up a player that they had confidence in and a man that was familiar with their offense.
