With the Miami Dolphins the reported front-runner for Pittsburgh Steelers free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace, reports are surfacing that the New England Patriots have some interest in the speedy receiver. Per Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald:

If Wallace is signed by New England, it could be a blow to Wes Welker’s hope of re-signing to the Patriots.

Wallace would give the Patriots the deep threat that they have lacked since Randy Moss left the team. Wallace would add an added dynamic to the Patriots offense and would provide Tom Brady with a dynamic playmaker on the outside.
